What it does — and what it doesn’t
Transfers cleanly
- Vector paths, compound paths & groups → shape layers
- Editable text — size & line-spacing matched to the art
- Images — linked & embedded (imported, placed & scaled)
- Strokes & gradients (Gradient Ramp, or solid fallback)
- Clipping masks → layer masks · layer blend modes
- Auto-builds a comp if none’s open · tidy project folders
Doesn’t (yet)
- Illustrator effects (shadow/glow/blur) don’t transfer
- Mesh / blend / symbol / graph objects (skipped & reported)
- Multi-stop & mesh gradients reduce to start→end
- Per-character styling & kerning not carried · RGB only
- Illustrator-only (no Figma / Photoshop yet)
Questions, answered
How do I install it?
No installer. In Illustrator: File > Scripts > Other Script… and pick Conveyor.jsx from the download. No admin, identical on Mac and Windows. The Quick Start in the zip shows how to add it to the menu permanently.
Which versions does it work with?
After Effects 2023 and newer, and a recent Illustrator, on macOS and Windows. You run Conveyor from Illustrator; After Effects just needs to be running — if no comp is open, Conveyor creates one sized to your artboard.
How much does it cost?
It’s free — pay what you want. Name your own price (even $0). If Conveyor saves you time, a tip is hugely appreciated, but never required.
What’s your refund policy?
If it doesn’t work as described, email jakefischerdesigns@gmail.com and I’ll make it right. Payments and refunds run through Gumroad, the merchant of record.
Does it handle images, not just vectors?
Yes — both linked and embedded images come across as footage, placed and scaled to match your artwork. Vector paths and text become native, editable shape/text layers; images stay as footage layers.
