Project:

College of Science // Planner

planner_2

Overview

Each year the College of Science (COS) puts out a new planner for students. I was tasked with the development of the cover, the rearranging of dates, events, images and copy from our writers. As a marketing team, we’re always looking for ways to push our brand recognizability. In regards to this project, we printed over 5 thousand copies. This proved to be a great opportunity to familiarize students with our brand and push our initiative “TEAM SCIENCE” and “Learn by Doing”.

Development

I started by working with the COS marketing team and my art director Sharon Betterton to come up with a concept that felt engaging, and impactful. The cover guidelines included a natural landscape depicting Oregon, and science based imagery as well as our initiatives. From then on, I worked to create cover options that checked these boxes. Once done with the cover, I gathered the content (dates, images, events, updated copy) to apply to our planner template. Due to this project's significance and impact, it took a large team effort to make sure there were no mistakes, and that everything was in accordance with the Oregon State University yearly schedule.

Takeaways

The planner has been a great way to get new students, and current students familiar with the COS brand and community events. In addition to this, it has allowed for students to quickly access resources in the COS and help to create structure in their routine during their time at Oregon State University. I personally have enjoyed seeing the impact my work has had on so many OSU Team Science students.
