The College of Science (COS) at Oregon State University publishes an annual planner for students. My role was to design the cover and reorganize dates, events, images, and copy provided by our writers, with the goal of creating a design that both engages students and reinforces the COS brand.
In collaboration with the COS marketing team and our art director, I designed the cover to combine Oregon’s landscapes with scientific imagery, aligning with the College’s mission and initiatives like 'TEAM SCIENCE' and 'Learn by Doing.' The result is a clean, impactful design that effectively represents the College of Science and resonates with students.
The meticulous organization of dates, copy, events, and imagery within the planner was vital, as thousands of students depended on it for quick and accurate information about the upcoming year. With a tight print deadline and a goal of producing 5,000 flawless copies, maintaining efficiency and precision was essential to ensure everything was correct before going to print.
This project presented a strategic opportunity to highlight COS initiatives like 'TEAM SCIENCE' and 'Learn by Doing,' while offering students a valuable organizational tool that fostered a deeper connection with the COS community. We successfully met our print deadline and consistently received praise for the new planner.
